Why Seal Coat?
- Prevents water from penetrating the surface.
- Provides protection from oil gas road salt etc.
- Restores vital oils to your asphalt.
- Provides a fresh new looking appearance.
- Doubles the life of your asphalt.
Seal coating protects asphalt, it’s that simple, with out it your asphalt would eventually break down and would require at best to be resurfaced or even worse to be completely removed and relayed at great expense.
Seal coating slows water penetration and oxidation, exposure to oxygen heardens asphalt binders and results in a brutal pavement surface that will soon crack. Once these cracks have formed water is able to penetrate the sub base, weakening IT, and reducing pavement strength this weakening will lead to more cracks and eventually expand and become potholes, seal coating fills these natural surface voids reducing the asphalt exposure to water and oxygen. adding longevity to your pavement’s life.
Seal coating also helps to resist ultraviolet rays. These rays break the links between carbon bonds within the asphalt Thus loosening the aggregate and the asphalt. Though seal coating won’t repair damage that already has occurred, it will help prevent further damage from UV rays.
Seal coating beautifies asphalt making it look like new again. The parking area is then easier to clean because of its smoother surface, snow is easier to remove and sweeping isn’t as difficult as it once was. Regular seal coated asphalt is black. The black it is, the more heat is absorbed from the sun making the surface much more pliable. Tthe more pliable surfaces is, the more I will be able to withstand traffic volume changes without cracking.
